Who we are
SeasonCrew.ca (the “Platform”) is a Canadian online marketplace that connects customers with seasonal service providers and product sellers (collectively, “Vendors”). The Platform is owned and operated by Naissco, Saskatchewan, Canada (“we”, “us”, “our”). Our website address is: https://seasoncrew.ca.

Where this policy applies
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in the course of our commercial activities, including when you create an account (Customer or Vendor), browse the site, make/accept bookings, list or purchase products, use our support channels, or subscribe to marketing. It applies to personal information governed by Canada’s federal PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy laws (including Quebec’s Law 25), and, where relevant, to requirements under CASL for commercial electronic messages.

1) The information we collect

We collect information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information from third parties.

a) You provide

  • Account & profile: name, email, phone, password, billing and service addresses, language preferences, profile photo, time zone, and maybe other relevant information.
  • Vendor on-boarding: business/legal name, business number, tax registration, principal contact, service locations, offered services, pricing, availability, insurance/certifications, payout details (e.g., last four digits of account; full bank details are processed by our payment processor), marketplace category tags, and content you upload (listings, images, videos), and maybe other relevant information.
  • Transactions & bookings: order details, dates/times, service locations, communications, invoices/receipts, and maybe other relevant information.
  • Identity & verification (as applicable): government‑issued ID number(s) and images or other KYC/AML checks managed by our verification providers. We store results/flags, not your raw documents, where feasible, and maybe other relevant information.
  • Support & safety: messages with support, dispute information, incident reports, and maybe other relevant information.
  • Marketing choices: newsletter opt‑ins, preferences, and unsubscribe requests, and maybe other relevant information.

b) Collected automatically

  • Technical data: IP address, device and browser type/version, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, session time, clickstream, approximate geolocation, and similar diagnostic data, and maybe other relevant information.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: cookies, local storage, pixels, SDKs used for authentication, preferences, analytics, fraud prevention, and (with consent where required) marketing/ads, and maybe other relevant information.

c) From third parties

  • Payments & payouts: payment tokenization, charge status, payout status, fraud scores from our payment processor(s) (e.g., Stripe/PayPal). We do not receive your full card or bank details; those are handled by the processor.
  • Verification & screening: sanctions/PEP checks, identity verification results from KYC providers, and maybe other relevant information.
  • Advertising/analytics partners: aggregated campaign metrics and audience segments, where permitted by your consent and device settings, and maybe other relevant information.

2) Why we use personal information (purposes)

We use information to:

  • Provide and operate the marketplace (accounts, listings, search, match, booking, messaging, reviews, fulfillment, payouts);
  • Process payments and prevent fraud;
  • Verify Vendors and maintain platform integrity and safety;
  • Provide support, handle disputes and charge backs;
  • Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax, bookkeeping, incident reporting);
  • Improve our products (analytics, service quality, UX);
  • Send service notices (transactional emails, booking reminders, policy updates); and
  • Send marketing communications where permitted by law and your preferences (see CASL section and Cookie Notice).

3) Legal bases / consent in Canada

  • Under PIPEDA, we collect, use, and disclose personal information with your knowledge and consent, except where inappropriate. We follow the 10 fair information principles (accountability, identifying purposes, consent, limiting collection/use/retention, accuracy, safeguards, openness, individual access, challenging compliance).
  • For commercial electronic messages (CEMs) under CASL, we obtain express consent (e.g., a separate checkbox with clear language) or rely on implied consent when permitted (e.g., existing business relationship) and always include our identification and an easy, functional unsubscribe.
  • For Quebec (Law 25) users, we designate a Privacy Officer, maintain incident response and breach notification processes, and conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) when required.

4) Sharing and disclosures

We share personal information with:

  • Service providers (processors): hosting, cloud infrastructure, analytics, fraud prevention, KYC, customer support, email delivery, communications, payment processing and payouts. We contractually require safeguards and limit use to our instructions.
  • Other users: to complete transactions (e.g., Customers and Vendors see each other’s names, service addresses/time windows, and necessary contact details). Reviews you post are public.
  • Legal and safety: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, protect rights, safety, property, investigate fraud, or respond to lawful requests from authorities.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We do not sell personal information. We do not permit third parties to use your data for their own marketing without your consent.


5) International transfers

We may store or process information outside your province or outside Canada (e.g., in the U.S.). We use service providers that implement appropriate safeguards and contractual protections.


6) Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes above and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements, then securely delete or de‑identify it. Examples:

  • Accounts: retained while active; core records up to 10 years after closure (tax/ledger).
  • Vendor verification logs: retained per regulatory and fraud‑prevention needs.
  • Support/dispute files: retained while a claim is active and for a reasonable period thereafter.
  • Cookie data: per cookie type; see Cookie Notice.

7) Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you can:

  • Access and correct your personal information;
  • Withdraw consent (e.g., marketing opt‑out, cookie choices);
  • Request deletion where appropriate;
  • Request information about our data practices and automated decision‑making;
  • File a complaint with us or with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and, if in Quebec, with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

8) Security

We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encryption in transit, restricted access, logging, and secure development practices. No system is 100% secure; please use unique, strong passwords and enable available security features.


9) Children

The Platform is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us to delete it.


10) Marketing & CASL compliance

  • We obtain express consent for marketing separately from the Terms acceptance (unticked checkbox). Our messages identify us and contain a working unsubscribe that is processed promptly.
  • You may also have implied consent (e.g., recent purchase). We stop sending CEMs when implied consent expires if you haven’t opted in.

11) Cookie Notice

What are cookies? Small files placed on your device to store information. We use:

  • Strictly necessary (login, security, fraud prevention);
  • Preferences (remember settings, language);
  • Analytics (website performance and usage);
  • Marketing/ads (with your consent where required) to measure campaigns and show relevant offers.

Your choices
On your first visit, we display a cookie banner and consent manager that lets you accept all, reject non‑essential, or manage settings. You can change your choices anytime.

Third‑party cookies
Some third parties (e.g., analytics or ad partners) set cookies when you visit our site. Their processing is subject to their privacy policies.
